+ Why should you work with Kat Collins?
Because I'm freaking awesome! In all seriousness, I work with women entrepreneurs who care about their success as much as I do. The truth is: You do you best. My goal is to show you off to the world in the most awesome, fabulous, and kickass way possible. If you're serious about growing your business and you're ready to work with someone who will take your business to the next level, you're in the right place.
+ Where are you based?
I'm based in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania but am serving clients all over the world!
+ What are your office hours?
I don't have a traditional office. All of my staff work remotely. However, you can contact us during our office hours, Monday - FrIday, 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST. Our evenings and weekends are for our furbabies and shenanigans.
+ What types of clients do you work with?
I specialize in working with women entrepreneurs in any industry who are ready to take their business to the next level. I also occasionally work with male entrepreneurs on a case by case basis. So don't hesitate to contact me!
+ Do you have to be local to work with you?
Not at all! I work with clients all over the world. We communicate via email, Zooom, Skype, Google Hangouts, and phone so it makes things easy.
+ What website platforms do you work with?
Squarespace is my jam for most things, but I can design e-commerce sites in Shopify if a client requests it.
+ What does it cost?
All of my services have a clear breakdown of their pricing on the Pricing page.
+ Are your websites responsive?
Yes, they are device responsive. Squarespace technology detects the type of device the visitor is using and directs them to either a desktop, tablet, or mobile version of the website. This is different than browser responsive which resizes and rearranges website elements based on the pixel size of the browser window the visitor is using, also known as viewports.
+ Will having a website with Kat Collins Design make me first on search engines?
I do everything according to best practices to setup your website to rank well, including optimizing your meta tags, providing a high site speed score, providing a free SSL certificate, and indexing your sitemap. However, this does not guarantee your website will rank first, on the first page, or at all. The way search engines determine how a website is ranked on their results is extremely complicated and depends on several other factors such as domain name age, amount of historical traffic, and the quality of the website's content. Anyone who guarantees your website will rank first from only having a website is either being dishonest or does not know what they are doing. The best way to improve your ranking is to have a website with me AND use SEO best practices.
+ what do I need to do to prepare to work with you?
Once we've talked with you about your needs and goals and you have filled out our questionnaire, I will need the following assets for your branding and web design project:
Brand style guide (fonts, colors, etc.) if you have one Complete copy for your website Images and graphics to include on the website Login details for external services (Any external services we will be integrating to your website. Examples: domain name, email administrator accounts, email marketing logins, etc.). We will email you instructions to use Last Pass to send passwords securely to us.
This allows me to get an idea of layout and we can hit the ground running as soon as we have all your assets!
+ Do you provide copywriting services?
Yes! If you need copywriting services I am happy to add that to your package for an additional fee.
+ What design date should I choose?
A design without content will make your website look unprofessional. If you have photos and text content prepared (say, on a current website) choose the next available design date. If you need to write your text content and take photos, choose a start date one (1) month out. If you'll be hiring others to write your text and take photos, choose a start date two plus (2+) months out. Speak with your photographer and copywriter to get a firm estimate of how long the project(s) will take them and book accordingly. These suggestions work for most client's, however be sure to adjust according to how busy your schedule is.
+ Can you launch my site by a certain date?
If there’s an available design date before your needed launch date, then yes! Your site will be ready!
+ How many projects do you work on at a time?
Typically I only take on just 1-2 major projects at a time. I also do minor work, mostly for past clients, (adding a new page to their site, designing business cards, etc.) at the same time as a major project. The major projects are always my main focus for those 2-6 weeks.
+ What type of websites can you build on Squarespace?
Squarespace is really versatile in its uses which is just one reason I am in love! Some of the different types of websites I can build on Squarespace include:
- Simple websites
- One page website (scrolling or landing/cover page)
- Portfolio website
+ How long do your projects take to complete?
My branding and web design projects range from 2 weeks to 6 weeks to complete. I will always provide a timeframe in your proposal based off your project’s specific needs.
+ My style isn't bold and graphic...can I still work with you?
Absolutely! While I love bold, graphic, minimal sites, and lots of my clients come to me because of it, I also work with a variety of styles. I will work with you to make sure you get the design and look you want for your project.
+ Will you set up my Squarespace or Shopify account and domain name?
Yep! I will take care of it all for you - easy peasy. At the end of the project, I will add you as the Admin/Owner to the website and you will have total control. (Squarespace & Shopify fees are not included in project fees.)
+ What forms of payment do you accept and do you offer payment plans?
My accounting goes through Square. I accept all major credit cards through Square and Paypal.
+ Do you offer Squarespace and Shopify website training?
Yep! Each website design project comes with a customized video tutorial that will walk you through the ins and outs of the back-end of your website. I love the video option too because then you can rewind and rewatch any section you need in the future. I am always a call or email away if you need any help or support in the future.
+ Do you offer refunds or what is your cancellation policy?
Please refer to your contract for full terms and agreements. In the event of termination, the client is responsible for all fees incurred and will forfeit license to use any preliminary designs. Project deposits are non-refundable and all fees are non-refundable after project completion.
