Angela Evans Duo Website Launch
ANGELA EVANS DUO WEBSITE LAUNCH
It’s hard to believe Christmas is in 13 days! Are you ready for the holidays? I’m working on it. Still have a little bit of shopping to do.
My 2-week client process has been keeping me busy, and I’m excited to give you a look at the finished website for one of my latest clients, Angela Evans Duo. Angela Evans, the lead singer of the Angela Evans Duo and a good friend, contacted me about refreshing their band website. She felt it needed a more modern design to attract more bookings as well as be able to showcase some of their music. I was thrilled to be able to help them out! I love supporting the local music scene and I know trying to book gigs is a tough job for bands and musicians as it’s quite competitive.
Angela desired a more modern feel to the website while still retaining its edgier rock aesthetic. The Angela Evans Duo are known for their acoustic covers of rock and pop music. Additionally, she wanted the site colors to coordinate with their existing logo. The photos we gathered for inspiration were predominantly black and white, smoky, dark, and indie rock feel.
The first day of my design process for the Angela Evans Duo, I used those photos to build an inspiration mood board.
The mood board acts as a starting point for the project, and I keep it beside me as I create the website design and layout in Squarespace. It gives me ideas for patterns and illustrations, color, type, and texture, and I often place drafts beside it to make sure the aesthetic of my client’s website matches the aesthetic of the inspiration board.
We decided to do a predominantly one page website which is hot trend right now in web design and will continue into 2019 web design trends. As a side note, a one page website is a single page website with no, or very few, additional pages like About, Team, or Services. All the content sits within the same webpage, traditionally in a long-scrolling format. The beauty of this format is that it promotes one thing in an uncluttered, direct manner which allows visitors to make a quicker decision versus sending them to a bloated website with many options. There are exceptions for important additional pages like Terms, Privacy, and Blogs which are preferably linked from the website footer. In this case, I did create two additional pages for the website which are Media for videos and a Contact page with all of their booking information.
I’m delighted with the outcome of the redesigned website, and even more happy that Angela is happy with the outcome, too.
Be sure to visit Angela and Mark’s website and if you’re local, book them for a gig! I promise you won’t be disappointed.
What do you think of the redesigned website for Angel Evans Duo?
